Federally Compliant BlinkerSigns® are built to conform to the specifications of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), as stipulated by the latest version of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Beware of non-compliant imitations that could expose you to liability.
TAPCO builds BlinkerSigns® from the ground up, starting with 3M™ VIP or DG3 reflective sheeting on state-spec high-grade aluminum, further protected with 3M™
anti-graffiti film. Each sign is then fitted with ultra-bright Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs) with a light-enhancing magnifying lens that increases the sign’s visibility range up to twenty times. The visual footprint of the LEDs is several
times larger than any other traffic control device, so it impacts drivers more dramatically.
Most BlinkerSigns® are built with an LED on each of
the vertices (corners) of the sign. On some signs,
additional LEDs are added at midpoints to assist drivers
in recognizing the shape (and thus the message type) of the sign. The LED colors match the sign’s background color and shape so drivers will immediately recognize the flashing shape and message, allowing them to react sooner. |
